Maintaining Connection

When i am thinking of connection, my mind goes to a cable with electric currents.

But, it isn’t so? Electrical cables are used to connect two or more devices that enable the transfer of electrical signals or power from one device to another. Electrical cables will work by providing a low resistance path for the current to flow through. Even though electricity passes through all possible paths whether the resistance is high or low, the difference is that the current is more in which resistance is less.

The analogy suits best describing the human connection. First, to create connection, two persons need to give electrical signals to each other. Seems like giving power. When the connection is established, the best way to maintain is by making sure the connection is less resistance. We know that resistance by definition is ‘The action of opposing something that disapprove or disagree with.’ Least resistance can be defined as easy way. I will interpret this as being authentic, sincere, vulnerable in the relationship but still having boundaries that being respected for both parties.

Second, maintain the connection. Do you know that if the current is too large, the heat loss can damage the circuit, burn the resistors, or even burn the surrounding objects? Same thing in the connection, too much of a thing is always not good. Maintaining good relationship can be done in many ways. Respecting each other boundaries i think is the most important thing. The next way is talk and listen for both parties. Meaning, there is should be enough conversation, communication with understanding to keep the spark. Without communication and merely silence, how can we maintain a good and loving relationship? So, create a loving communication and understanding one.

This lovely connection is the essence that I could get after watching Hometown cha cha cha. (I did watch when they first released – but I just rewatched it again last week). The people in Gongjin create a lovely connection where they respect each other boundaries. This can be seen when they do not force Hong Du Sik to explain things that happened to him while he was in Seoul. They love and accept him as he is. Those people in Gongjin inspired me on how to create and maintain lovely connection.

It does not mean to meet every day and every time.
Hang around every day and every time
Talk every day and every time.
It is keeping the spark of lovely connection.

I may not live in Gongjin. But I think, the least i can do is to create the connection and maintain it.
As Kim Gam Ri said : “This kind of relationship isn’t easy to come by, so you must do your best not to lose it.”

Have you rewatched it? What kind of lesson you take this time?

Would love to remind you what Kim Gam Ri said : Life may seem like a burden to you at times, but if you choose to be among others, just like you did for me, someone will carry you on their back.
Eat well and be happy, every one!
