The Devils Wear Prada

Last week was my second time to rewatch this movie. Oh well, Anne Hathaway has her own persona that sometimes i couldn’t take my eyes off of her.

If you read this, Anne, yes. I.m a fan. A huge fan of yours!

I think this movie is brilliant. You can just watch on Netflix – it’s a one click away.
However, this time I saw another thing not just ambition, life long dreams and toxic workplace. This time, I saw about never ending things that world can offer. About the standard of what kind of brand, how we should behave, and what is next.

I remember my first time I have to switch my phone to I phone and my laptop to Macbook. Because everyone in my circle used that. And the way other people reacted when I used particular brand is sometimes enjoyable. Lol. Okay I think I have to admit that. Then another thing is particular brand of clothing, particular brand of shoes also particular brand of bags. Then suddenly I found out that I have another group of people who have better brand. Oh well, you can guess, another brand and another one. Saying no was hard. It’s just like ‘others are doing that way, and this is how it works now.’

Finding things that fit myself that I really like was not in my mind. I was busy pleasing others by trying to be in their circle doing how things going on in the circle. Truly I forgot about myself. Relationship with myself. Things that I actually really value. I just can’t say no.

Well, I do believe everyone has their turning point. Mine too.
I started to realize when I become truly I am, some don’t even take me as I am. When I went out just wearing ordinary casual things non branded, they just waved hi and bye. I realized that this was not kind of life that I want.

It was a long journey to find myself and being authentic. However I remember clearly when I entered the meditation class. I was reminded that being authentic is important. And that was when I could have friends who take me as I am. Not because whatever I do or whatever I wear. Just because I am.

Upon watching the Devils wear Prada, there were some lines that I thought incredible
Oh, don’t be silly – EVERYONE wants this. Everyone wants to be us.
People think success happens to you.
It doesn’t. You choose it. Every day, I choose excellence.
You chose to get ahead. You want this life, those choices are necessary.

Apparently, that’s the message that I got in this second time watching. A choice.
We always have a choice. A choice just to get up from the bed every morning and do exercise or simply stay and scrolling the social media. It is still a choice.
A choice to be kind and saying good words. A choice to see from two sides rather than just listening from one point of view. We all have choice.

Then, why not you try to choose to be kind to yourself. Feeding kindness to your soul and others.
Stay kind, choose love.
